Scorpio Tankers: a Greediness Score of 86 on an equity award

Role and cluster activity, the two heaviest Form 4 factors, put two $19.5 million rows in the Strong band. The Form 4s are code A. The score is what found them.

What the Greediness Score saw

On the 29 September 2026 Strong-band feed, Scorpio Tankers (STNG) chief executive Emanuele Lauro scored 84, with partial data. President Robert L. Bugbee scored 86, with high confidence. Each row was a direct buy of 240,495 shares at about $81.16, about $19.5 million, traded 25 September and filed 28 September.

The explanation on both rows names the same two inputs: a senior role, and a seven-insider cluster. Those are insider role and cluster activity, the two heaviest factors in the default Form 4 model. A raw feed sorted by dollars would also have put these rows at the top. The Greediness Score tells you the dollars are not the reason. You can read the explanation, open the factor weights, and change them. That written reason is the advantage over a tape that only shows a buy and a size.

Why 86 and 84 are not the same row

Bugbee is high confidence. Lauro is partial data. The scores are two points apart, and the explanation text is the same shape. High confidence means the factors had the inputs they needed. Partial data means at least one factor was missing, so that factor was left out and its weight was redistributed. The score is reporting the quality of its own number, not only the number.

The explanation does not say which input Lauro's row lacked. You do not have to guess. You open the filing. The two-point gap is a prompt to do that, not a claim that one award is more bullish than the other.

What the Form 4s say

Both filings report transaction code A, not P. The footnote says the shares were awarded under the issuer's 2013 Equity Incentive Plan. The reported price is $81.155 a share. Code A is a grant or award, not an open-market purchase with the insider's own cash.

After the award, Bugbee reported 880,783 shares directly, of which 873,162 were unvested. Lauro reported 1,147,799 shares directly, of which 873,162 were unvested. The score ranked the structure of the row. It did not, and does not, convert an award into a cash buy. That limit is the point of reading the primary document after the score has chosen it.

The cluster the score counted

The same export lists three more Strong STNG buys at the same reported price on the same trade date, each explained as a senior role plus that seven-insider cluster: chief operating officer Cameron Keyser Mackey, 168,346 shares, score 84, high confidence; vice president Filippo Lauro, 129,600 shares, score 84, partial data; chief financial officer Christopher John Avella, 72,148 shares, score 84, high confidence. Five names are in the export. The explanation says seven, so the cluster is wider than this slice.

Cluster activity is why these rows share a band even when the share counts differ by a factor of three. Do not assume the other transaction codes match the CEO and the president. The score grouped them. Each Form 4 still has its own code.

What the score does not prove

An equity award is not evidence the executives wrote a personal check, and it is not evidence they are bearish. A Strong score means the filing was structurally notable enough to read first: senior people, several of them, direct holdings, on the same name. It does not predict STNG, and it is not a recommendation. Confirm the documents on EDGAR. The live rows, with the same explanation line, are at /app?band=strong&q=STNG.
